Previous work

Giving indie games a voice is what Neon Bedlam is all about! If you don't believe us here are some case studies for games we have worked with.

Summoners Fate - Early Access Launch Campaign

We started work with D20 Studios and Summoners Fate in early 2021. During our year-long contract, we helped rebuild key game parts, including a UI overhaul, progression system ideas, and an improved new player experience.

Once the game was overhauled, we started building Summoners Fate’s profile. Although the game is inherently a roguelike deck builder, we decided to market it more as a board game, due to how its overworld and turn-based combat work.

Our outreach helped bring some great traction to Summoners with videos from Splattercat, Retromation, and Wanderbots. This coverage helped Summoners Fate sell over 6,000 units in its opening month and achieve over 100 Steam reviews at 93%.

“Neon Bedlam went above and beyond my expectations of marketing consultant. I consider Lewis a full-fledged member of my team who provides integral support on all aspects of our project. Both chilled and professional, Lewis has a unique way of making you feel excited, at-ease and invigorated with every discussion. Neon Bedlam doesn’t just market games - Lewis genuinely helped make our game better and get it the audience attention it deserves."

- Ross Przybylski (CEO of D20 Studios)

Evil Dead: The Game - Influencer Outreach

With Evil Dead being one of the leading (and my favorite) horror franchises, it was a pleasure to work on the influencer outreach for the game. All content from our campaign was earned, we didn’t use a budget for any of the content creators.

The campaign ran for 10 days, focussing on both Twitch streams and YouTube videos. Over the course of the 10 days, our outreach brought a total Twitch CCV of 22,000 and our YouTube outreach racked up at a total of 136,000 views.

Stardeus - Kickstarter Campaign

We were approached by Tomas nearly 6 months before the Stardeus Kickstarter campaign was planned to launch. In that time we helped create and monitor a marketing plan leading into the campaign, plan and set up the Kickstarter page and pitch Stardeus to press and content creators.

The campaign itself was a huge success with the game receiving just over 180% of its funding target. During the campaign we worked with key content creators and press to ensure Stardeus got the exposure it deserved, this included videos from Splattercat and Nookrium as well as several press articles including IGN (FR).

“I had absolute pleasure working with Neon Bedlam on the Stardeus Kickstarter campaign. Both the campaign performance and the level of service exceeded my expectations. Neon Bedlam helped in absolutely every single step, from setting up the campaign on their own account, since Kickstarter does not support launching campaigns in my country, to wide marketing outreach that ended up with healthy amounts of exposure and generated several thousands of wishlists on Steam in just one month. The Kickstarter campaign was the best thing that happened to the Stardeus project, and I will be happy to collaborate with Neon Bedlam in future.”

- Tomas Varaneckas (CEO of Kodo Linija)

Draft of Darkness - Early Access Launch Campaign

We worked with solo developer Crawly Games on the Early Access launch for survival-horror deckbuilder Draft of Darkness. This was a very short campaign as we were only approached by the developers 2 weeks before the launch.

Despite this, we managed to help the developer with a very successful launch, with press coverage from PC Gamer and NME and YouTube coverage from Mr Falcon and Retromation.

During the Early Access launch week, Draft of Darkness exceeded all its proposed sale goals and received 100% positive Steam review feedback from over 30 reviews.

“I was immensely happy to work with Neon Bedlam for the Early Access launch of Draft of Darkness. Thanks to their outreach campaign, the game gained significant amount of media presence within the week of its launch. I was extremely satisfied with their work. They were always in contact with me to keep me updated about the campaign. I'm looking forward to working with them more in the future.”

- Berker Sonmez (Developer, Crawly Games)

Trials of Fire - Content Creator Outreach

Trials of Fire left Early Access in May 2021. Leading into its full release, we worked with developers Whatboy Games to help build interest and traction for the game from the card game community.

The outreach for Trials of Fire included both paid ‘sponsored content’ outreach, as well as organic outreach. Over the course of the launch week for Trials of Fire the game received over 120,000 YouTube views and over 6,000 average views on Twitch.

During its launch week, Trials of Fire sat comfortably in Steam’s New and Trending, including a streaming feature on the Steam home page.

“No-one knows the CCG space like Neon Bedlam. The successful launch of Trials of Fire hinged on our ability to engage key partners and influencers. Lewis' understanding of the indie landscape is unparalleled and his determinaton to get us the results that we needed made all the difference.”

-Dax (Developer, Whatboy Games)

In My Shadow - Launch Campaign

We were approached by Playbae Games to help with the outreach for In My Shadow just 9 days before the game launched. This incredibly short review window hindered our opportunity for larger outlets to cover the game, so we had a very targeted focus with In My Shadow’s launch campaign.

Over the intense 9 days, In My Shadow picked up a variety of positive reviews from over 14 outlets, including PC Invasion, GameSpew, and GameTyrant. All the press coverage, combined with the extensive YouTube features helps In My Shadow find its way with a successful launch.

"It was a satisfying experience working with Lewis on the PR of IMS. We did not have much time left to release and needed to get the game out to the Press. That's where Lewis stepped in. With a very limited timeframe, he was able to build a very nice media presence for the game and we are very thankful to him for that. In the end, he got the job very nicely done!"

-Nakul (Lead Developer, Playbae Games)

Into A Dream - Launch Campaign

Into A Dream released in August 2020 via Steam. I worked with developer Filipe on a launch campaign for the game, which involved some rebranding of the Steam page, press and content creator outreach, and the distribution of press releases.

The campaign picked up good coverage, receiving over 10 reviews, including coverage from Screen Rant, Adventure Gamers, and Powerup-Gaming.

“I was extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Lewis and Neon Bedlam. With a very friendly, laid-back and incredibly professional approach, I felt at ease with discussing every aspect of the strategy with them, at any time, and they were restless in getting the best possible outcome for the project. It felt that, during the time working together, Neon Bedlam was an integral member of the Into A Dream team.”

-Filipe F. Thomaz (Developer of Into A Dream)

Chroma: Bloom and Blight - Kickstarter Campaign

Neon Bedlam worked with Clarity Games on the successful Kickstarter campaign for Chroma: Bloom and Blight. With a mammoth €100,000 funding target it was very important to get Chroma coverage and traction in the card game community.

Our outreach brought some important coverage for the game, including features in PC Invasion and Worth Playing.

As well as press outreach and press release distribution, we also help Clarity Games with a sizable YouTube advertising campaign, offering a breakdown of target audiences and affordable CPC trends.

"Neon Bedlam has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Not only did their expertise help us reach our quite ambitious Kickstarter goal but they also helped us prepare for the future by always being open to questions. Working with them wasn't just effective but also an invaluable learning experience."

-Philipp Baumgart (Lead Developer, Clarity Games)
